First Round Proper draw details
Stephen Porter wants to see Mangotsfield United create history when they face Conference Premier side Forest Green Rovers in the world's oldest Cup competition this Saturday.
'The Mangos' currently play in the Zamaretto League South & West Division and have yet to progress beyond the Fourth Round Qualifying of The FA Cup since they were established in 1951.
Club Secretary, Porter, feels that this could be the South Gloucestershire side's time to put that record to bed.
"We have progressed on the field and our performance against Truro City in the last round is the best we've produced in years. Any game at this stage is going to be difficult but we have to give it a go, especially being at home.
"Everyone is working together and as long as the boys work hard that's all you can ask for. If we don't concede early, we have a chance."
Porter is aware that although Forest Green currently sit 22nd in the Conference Premier, David Hockaday's team will still carry a large attacking threat.
"We won't go out all guns blazing. Even though they have conceded 36 goals in the league, they'll know how to score as well. After all, Forest Green are in the Conference and have been for as long as I can remember.
"But we have done well to get this far and if we are in the draw on Sunday, it will be a massive achievement.
"The magic of The Cup has captured everybody's imagination. If we were to make it into the next round, Leeds or Southampton would be nice. It is every non-League club's dream to draw a Football League side."
