Fulham captain Danny Murphy admits he is a big fan of The FA Cup and is still hoping to experience more joy in the competition in his career.
The 30-year-old already has a winners' medal after playing in the 2001 Final for Liverpool against Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium and after helping Fulham through to the Fourth Round last weekend, is now looking to help them embark on a Cup run this season.
"I'm fortunate that I've played in a Final and won," explained the cultured midfielder, pictured left after the 2001 win.
"Granted it wasn't at Wembley, but it's a wonderful memory for me to have and one that can never be taken away.
"Those players who've won a Cup medal will tell you how much they cherish it.
"Why can't we be the ones who get near or have a good crack at it?"
Murphy, whose team face a trip to non-League Kettering Town in the Fourth Round, admits he is something of an FA Cup aficionado too and with 2001 firmly in his mind for obvious reasons, he's now hoping 2009 will be another year to remember.
"You only need a bit of luck," he added.
"I remember growing up watching every Cup Final.
"I could probably name all of them from the last twenty years.
"It was only a few years ago that Millwall were in The Final without playing a Premier League team.
"We could have that luck in the draw and even when we play the bigger teams now, we're confident."
