Paul Brayson bagged a hat-trick as Newcastle Blue Star eased through The FA Cup Third Round Qualifying with a convincing 4-0 win over Blue Square Conference North side Hucknall Town.

Blue Star are currently riding high at the top of the Unibond One North table and while their opposition are firmly rooted to the bottom of their table, despite being three rungs higher on the on the football pyramid.

But the hosts took just 12 minutes before they took the lead. Good work on the right hand side from Chris Emms played in David McTiernan who crossed for Brayson to volley home from 14 yards.

The second came just after the half hour mark when Emms played a quick corner to Paul Tallbot who crossed for Brayson to head in from six yards.

Clever work from McTiernan just before the hour mark played in Brayson on the right hand side who beat two defenders and fired his shot past James Lindley in the Hucknall goal to complete his hat-trick.

Stuart Nicholson was able to get his name on the scoresheet with five minutes remaining. Tony Stephenson and Emms combined on the left and crossed for Nicholson to poke home from three yards.

Things got worse for Hucknall when they had Gary Ricketts sent off for the second game in a row after picking up his second yellow card of the game in the 92nd minute.
