Bashley manager Steve Riley praised his team after a stirring second half fightback went to plan and earned them a 2-2 draw at Basingstoke Town in The FA Cup Third Round Qualifying.
And with a replay back at Bashley looming on Tuesday night, he has urged his team to redouble their efforts. "We had a game plan to get them back to our place and that's what we've done,"
Riley said. "If we play like we did in the second half we'll give them a game, but they've got a lot of quality players and it's not going to be easy."
Basingstoke, currently struggling towards the foot of the Conference South table, took the lead on 15 minutes when Phil Ruggles took advantage of some indecisive defending.
Mitchell Bryant's long-range thunderbolt doubled the home side's lead ten minutes later and Basingstoke missed several chances to make it three before the break.
But Matt Parnell headed home from a corner three minutes into the second period and the game took on a different complexion.
Both sides missed chances as play switched from end to end.But just as it looked as if time was running out, Bashley were gifted a chance to equalise when Carl Gibbs was adjudged to have handled in the area.
Richard Gillespie stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to earn his side a second bite of the cherry.
"We're just pleased we're in the hat for the next round," Riley added. "You've got to give the boys a pat on the back."
His opposite number, Frank Gray, bemoaned his team's poor finishing. "We created enough chances to win two games today and just didn't defend two corners," he said. "We're still in the tie and if we play like that again on Tuesday night we can get through."
