Carrow Road, Norwich City
Winning clubs will receive £75,000 from The FA
Norwich City manager Glenn Roeder is hoping to see his side emerge victorious against Charlton Athletic for more than one reason.
The Championship rivals meet at Carrow Road after sharing a 1-1 draw at the Valley 10 days ago and Roeder is looking to this game to help reignite his side’s season.
Roeder’s team have lost three out of their last four games, but their most recent win actually came against Charlton at Carrow Road on 20 December so the Canaries will be looking for a repeat performance this time around.
“We need to get through, there wouldn’t be a negative factor for going through,” explained the City boss.
“Financial gain, winning a game for confidence, whatever you say, it would be a positive.”
Whoever wins will be rewarded with a game against either Leyton Orient or Sheffield United, who also meet on Tuesday evening but Roeder is fully focused on progressing beyond the Third Round first.
“I have no opinion of who we play in the next round,” added the former West Ham and Newcastle United chief.
“I just want to make sure we’re in the next round. I’ll be equally happy to go to my first club, Leyton Orient.”
