Hat-trick hero Matty Fryatt steered League One table-toppers Leicester City into the Third Round of The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON as the Foxes twice came from behind to beat Dagenham and Redbridge 3-2 at the Walkers Stadium.

Red-hot Fryatt equalised twice in the first half after Matt Ritchie and Ben Strevens had put the Daggers ahead.

The 22-year-old then hit what proved the second-half winner - which will reunite Nigel Pearson’s City with the country’s top sides in tomorrow's Third Round draw.

A frantic start at the saw the Daggers take the lead i nside nine minutes.

Sam Saunders skipped past Joe Mattock and his fizzing cross was met by Ritchie, who stabbed in his fourth goal of the season.

The lead lasted all of two minutes for John Still’s side as Leicester striker Fryatt netted his 17th goal of the campaign, lashing home from close range to level for the Foxes.

But the League Two outfit were not to be deterred and they reclaimed the lead on 26 minutes through Strevens.

Paul Benson was the architect here, turning past Aleksandar Tunchev and firing a low cross to Ritchie whose effort was palmed away by Foxes keeper David Martin - but only as far as Strevens, who in turn swept it home.

On the half-hour mark, Fryatt drew City level again from the penalty spot after Danny Foster was penalised for handball as he tried to clear a buzzing Lloyd Dyer cross. Fryatt made no mistake, striking low into the corner.

The League One leaders could have added a third immediately afterwards had Daggers stopper Tony Roberts not denied Mattock with a fingertip save around the post. He saved well again - this time with his legs - from the resulting corner from which Tunchev went close.

Martin was then called into action at the opposite end five minutes before the break as he saved a Benson shot from point-blank range to keep the hosts on level terms.

Fryatt completed his hat-trick on 55 minutes with a delicate chip over the head of Roberts after being fed by Bruno Berner.

Solomon Taiwo went close to a Daggers equaliser but his free-kick was well saved high by Martin.

The impressive Ritchie twice went close again late on for the East Londoners but the equaliser proved elusive. He was unfortunate to have his header scrambled off the line by Chris Powell before unleashing a stinging shot just inside the box which again was batted clear by Martin.

The Daggers continued to push for a winner and were nearly caught out as Fryatt had the ball in the net again from close range after Dyer crossed from the wing, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.
