E.ON Player of the Round 2008-09
Fourth Round Qualifying
Five players are once again in the frame to be voted 'E.ON Player of the Round' and take their place at The FA Cup Final on 30 May, following their display in the Fourth Round Qualifying.
The first name on our shortlist is Barrow's Richard Brodie. In a convincing 4-0 victory away to Tamworth, Brodie produced a superb display, scoring two goals and making another.
For the second round in succession, Evesham have a player in the running, this time in Danny Scheppel. Evesham pulled off one of the shocks of the round by knocking out Rushden & Diamonds, courtesy of a 2-0 victory and both goals were scored by Scheppel, either side of half-time.
Blyth Spartans' Shaun Reay is the third name on the shortlist. Reay came onto the pitch with Blyth losing 1-0 at home to Sheffield. The 'super sub' changed the game by making the first goal and scoring the second in a 3-1 win.
Like Evesham, AFC Wimbledon have made it through to the First Round Proper for the first time in their history, thanks to a splendid Sam Hatton strike in a 1-0 win at Maidstone United.
The final selection is Ian Simpemba, who plies his trade at last season's Cup heroes, Havant & Waterlooville. The ex-Crawley Town player came back to haunt his old club, scoring a brace in a superb 3-0 victory over the team currently placed second in the Conference Premier.
The five names were selected by a panel which includes Mark Clemmit of Radio Five Live, Howard Wheatcroft of the Daily Star, Ricky George of the Daily Telegraph, ITV pundit Andy Townsend and E.ON Managing Director Graham Bartlett.
The 'E.ON Player of the Round' award is presented to the outstanding player at each stage of competition, starting from the First Round Qualifying all the way to the Semi-Final.
'E.ON Player of the Round' winners will receive VIP hospitality for themselves and their guest at The FA Cup Final on Saturday 30 May 2009. The winner of each award will also be presented with a commemorative trophy.
Voting closes at 9am on Monday 3 November 2008.
