Didier Drogba scores with four minutes of extra-time remaining to win The FA Cup for Chelsea.
The Blues were the last team to win it here at the old Wembley and the first at the new stadium.
Here's a rundown of the key moments from the 120 minutes.
First Half Action
0 mins The moment has arrived, The first ever FA Cup Final at the new Wembley Stadium kicks off. Manchester United attack the west end where the Chelsea fans sit.
3' Drogba heads over the first chance of the match.
11' Joe Cole gets a ticking off for a late challenge on Wes Brown.
15' Rooney shoots wide after a Fletcher header down, but the flag on the near side was up for offside.
22' Space opens up for Didier Drogba and he carries the ball forward before having a try from 25 yards, but the ball flashes wide of van der Sar’s goal.
28' Linesman’s flag goes up again for Rooney who looked to be clean through on goal with Ronaldo. Rooney was offside, but had the Portuguese taken it on, he’d have had a one on one with Petr Cech.
31' Paulo Ferreira makes a run into the box from the right before sliding into the feet of Frank Lampard, but his first time shot is saved low by van der Sar.
32' Shaun Wright-Phillips sends a first time shot from the edge of the box over the bar.
35' Ronaldo has his first chance, bringing down a long ball from Paul Scholes inside the box, his left foot shot goes wide of the target from 12 yards.
37' Lampard tries his luck from the left hand side 25 yards out, but the ball flies just over the bar.
39' United work a decent opening on the edge of the box with Carrick and Ronaldo linking up. Giggs’ final ball in is cleared by Essien.
40' Rooney puts another effort wide from the six yard line, but the flag goes up early.
45' Steve Bennett has a chat with Paul Scholes after he up-ended Wright-Phillips just inside the United half.
Second Half Action
46' SUBSTITUTE Chelsea make a half-time substitution bringing on Arjen Robben for Joe Cole.
47' Solo effort from Rooney, beaten away by Cech. Giggs follows up on the rebound, and Cech saves again, but the Welshman was offside.
56' Rooney breaks free from the United box shrugging off Frank Lampard before taking on three defenders. His run is finally brought to an end on the Chelsea 18 yard line by Paulo Ferreira.
57' Scholes picks out Giggs’ run on the left with a precise lofted pass which United’s captain volleys just over the bar from the corner of the six yard box.
59' YELLOW CARD: Paul Scholes is the first to go into the book following his foul on Frank Lampard in a dangerous area on the corner of the United area.
60' Drogba’s free-kick around the outside of the wall is hard and low but hits the outside of the right hand post.
60' Giggs is put through on goal but is offside.
63' Robben fires in a low cross from the left after beating Darren Fletcher for pace. Van der Sar punches clear.
64' Another powerful Rooney run in the left hand channel. After beating Michael Essien, his run takes him into the box and Cech saves well at the feet of the England striker
65' Handball from Makelele in an interesting position for United 23 yards out. Ronaldo fires the free-kick straight into the Chelsea wall.
67' Arjen Robben goes down under a heavy challenge from Wes Brown.
70' Carrick sneaks a ball through the crowd, beating the offside trap, to put Giggs' free on the left. Essien is back covering though and forces the ball out for a corner.
76' Drogba powers his way through the middle and it takes two United players to unsettle him, one of those, Vidic, stays down inside the box for treatment following yet another heavyweight tussle.
84' YELLOW CARD: Makelele booked for a late foul on Scholes inside the centre-circle.
85' YELLOW CARD: Nemanja Vidic booked for tugging at Frank Lampard. Lampard’s shot from the free-kick 35 yards out smashes into the United wall.
88' A quiet game for Ronaldo and a rare sight at goal. Cutting in from the right he shoots low with his left into the side netting.
90' Rooney again goes at Ferreira down the left after being played in by Carrick. Essien once more though halted Rooney as he cut in on the bye-line.
90' + 2 Giggs' free-kick from the left is flicked on by Vidic but it sails over the bar. Steve Bennett blows for the end of normal time.
Extra-Time
First Period
91' United kick off the extra period, again shooting towards the Chelsea fans.
92' SUBSTITUTE Alan Smith comes on for United replacing Darren Fletcher.
94' SUBSTITUTE Chelsea make their second change bringing on Salomon Kalou for Shaun Wright-Phillips.
99' Scholes has a sight on goal 25 yards out but his shot goes well wide.
104' Ronaldo plays wide to Rooney on the right and he crosses beautifully along the six yard line for Giggs arriving at the back post. His connection isn’t great, giving Cech a chance to stop on the line. Giggs’ momentum sends him sliding into the goalkeeper forcing him and the ball just over the line. Understandably no goal is given though.
105' YELLOW CARD Alan Smith goes into the book.
Second Period
108' SUBSTITUTE Chelsea take off their first substitute Arjen Robben, who hobbles off, and on comes Ashley Cole.
110' Long ball forward from Scholes beats the leap of Essien and finds the feet of Rooney inside the box. Cech is down well again to deny the England man.
112' SUBSTITUTE United make a double change. Bringing on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Ryan Giggs and John O’Shea replaces Michael Carrick. Scholes now has the captain’s armband.
114' A sublime touch from Drogba puts Kalou free running at the United defence. From 20 yards out he shoots but his curling effort goes wide.
116' GOAL Didier Drogba plays a neat one-two with Frank Lampard which takes out three United defenders on the edge of the area. Drogba beats van der Sar to the return pass and lifts the ball over the Dutchman’s head and inside the post.
119' YELLOW CARD Salomon Kalou is cautioned for an altercation with van der Sar.
120' YELLOW CARD Paulo Ferreira is booked for a foul on Ronaldo.
120' +1 YELLOW CARD Ashley Cole becomes The Final’s seventh and last booking.
120' +3 CHELSEA WIN THE FA CUP The final whistle blows to the delight of the Chelsea players, bench and fans.
