MK Dons defeated Exeter 4-3 in a thriller at Stadium:MK. Goals from Martin Devaney, Sam Baldock and Jermaine Easter saw Paul Ince’s side roar back from 3-1 down to book their place in the Third Round Proper.
In form Conference Premier club York City sealed their place in the FA Cup Third Round Proper on a busy day of action in the world’s oldest knockout cup competition.
First-half goals from Michael Rankine and Richard Brodie saw York, third in the Conference Premier, defeat Cambridge United 2-1 despite Anthony Tonkin’s late goal for the hosts.
Fellow non league club Forest Green also progressed with a nailbiting 2-1 victory over Bath City. Defender Mark Preece scored Forest Green’s decisive goal three minutes after half-time.
And in another end-to-end clash at the Withdean Stadium, Liam Dickenson’s goal four minutes from time sealed Brighton’s 3-2 victory over Rushden & Diamonds.
Elsewhere, a John-Joe O’Toole goal deep in to injury time gave Colchester United a narrow 1-0 win at Hereford, while Brentford edged past Walsall 1-0 at Griffin Park.
There were also wins for Gillingham, 1-0 at home to Burton Albion, Southampton, 3-2 at Northampton and for Huddersfield, 1-0 at Port Vale.
A late Gordon Greer goal gave Swindon a 1-0 win at Wrexham, but a replay will be needed to separate Oxford United and Barrow who drew 1-1.
Accrington Stanley and Barnet drew 2-2 in an entertaining clash at the Crown Ground, while Notts County defeated League Two pacesetters Bournemouth 2-1 at Dean Court.
In the day’s early kick-offs, Lincoln City defeated Northwich Victoria 3-1, while Staines and Millwall drew 1-1.
