First Round Qualifying
E.ON Player of the Round
Five players have been nominated for the season's first E.ON 'Player of the Round' award for their performance in the First Round Qualifying, which comprised 116 ties.
A five-strong panel, which includes FA Cup hero, Ricky George, will nominate their candidates after each round (up to and including the Semi-Final) and you can vote for your favourite on TheFA.com.
The selections for the First Round Qualifying are as follows:
Bobby Traynor - Kingstonian
Clinical finishing from Bobby Traynor was the difference between Kingstonian and Bognor Regis Town in a game that was much closer than the 4-1 scoreline might suggest. Traynor gave the K’s a first-half lead but it wasn’t until he coolly netted from the spot that Kingstonian could breathe easily. Traynor wrapped up the tie, and the match ball, in the dying seconds as he took full advantage of a loose back pass (Howard Wheatcroft).
Nathan Jack - AFC Totton
Nathan Jack’s inspirational performance helped AFC Totton erase memories of their FA Vase defeat against VCD Athletic two years ago. Jack rounded off his Man of the Match performance with a well taken late goal that sealed a 5-0 win (Graham Bartlett).
Alex Taylor - Kendal Town
Alex Taylor’s superb hat-trick set Kendal Town on their way to the most convincing result of the round as they inflicted the ignominy of a 9-1 defeat on Guisborough. Taylor, whose first came just after five minutes, killed off any hope of a fightback from Guisborough with his third goal shortly after the break (Mark Clemmit).
Ryan O'Toole - Uxbridge
Uxbridge’s Ryan O’Toole was the hero as he netted a hat-trick in nine second-half minutes to turn around a two-goal deficit against Ash United. After Ash found an equaliser, O’Toole’s fourth, in stoppage time, gave Uxbridge the odd goal in seven and sent the home side into the next round (Andy Townsend).
Chris Mortlock - Pegasus Juniors
Chris Mortlock won the plaudits as he scored a goal in each half to inspire Pegasus Juniors to a Cup shock in arguably the biggest game in the club’s history. The side from Herefordshire ran out 4-1 winners against Hednesford Town (Ricky George).
You have until midday on Tuesday 22 September to vote for your favourite and the winner will receive a commemorative trophy and two VIP tickets to The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON Final on 15 May 2010.
