Live on Setanta, highlights on ITV
On Sunday, Portsmouth captain Sol Campbell, will aim to lift his second trophy at Wembley Stadium in three months, as Pompey take on Manchester United in The FA Community Shield sponsored by McDonald's.
In May, Campbell led his side to their first FA Cup Final win since 1939, when a Nwankwo Kanu goal was enough to defeat Cardiff City 1-0.
They will line-up against Sir Alex Ferguson's Premier League Champions in the season's traditional curtain-raiser, and having played at Wembley on a number of occasions, Campbell hopes playing at the Venue of Legends will give Portsmouth a thirst for success.
In an exclusive for the match programme, Campbell says The Community Shield will be ideal preparation for the new season.
The team have been playing well in pre-season games. Having won The FA Cup last season, how do you feel about the new campaign?
Yes, it's been alright. We're starting to play some good football and build up a relationship with the new players and that's what pre-season is all about. Everyone's fit, that's the main thing.
Do you think today offers a marker for the season ahead, or is it more a case of getting another decent 90 minutes under your belt before it begins again?
It's a bit of both, really. It's good to get that sharpness again, whoever you play. There's an added edge to it because we're playing Man Utd, but ultimately it's a mixture of getting some fitness and the feel of playing football again.
How does it feel to be back playing at Wembley?
It's fantastic - it's always nice to play here in front of a full house; it's a top game. It'd be nice to put a good performance in, too - not to put one over on United so much, but to set your stall out in terms of how you'd like your season to progress.
Where did lifting The FA Cup last season rank for you?
It was my fourth FA Cup win, but I don't think it makes any odds whether it's your first, fourth or sixth - it's special. The feeling was fantastic, and a bit different because the so-called 'big four' usually gobble up all the honours. For Portsmouth to win The FA Cup, not only did we break that mould, but we woke the club up.
And lastly, The FA Community Shield. How do you enjoy playing against Manchester United generally?
They're one of the best sides in the world - it doesn't matter who they put out, they'll always give you a great game.
