The FA has today submitted a bid to UEFA, on behalf of Wembley Stadium to host The UEFA Champions League Final in either 2010 or 2011.

If the bid is short listed, The FA and Wembley Stadium will host a UEFA delegation who will visit the city and the venue before the end of this year as part of their bid assessment.

A final decision is expected from UEFA at the end of March next year.

The old Wembley Stadium staged the European Cup Final five times, with the last coming in 1992 when Barcelona beat Sampdoria in the season before the competition became the Champions League.

The last time the Champions League Final was staged in England was in 2003 at Old Trafford.
