Bhangra music star, H-Dhami is supporting The FA’s Asians in Football initiative by signing up and passing his Level One coaching badge in Birmingham recently.
A household name in Asian communities across the UK, H-Dhami will now head to schools across Birmingham and take part in coaching sessions as a role model to help inspire local children to get into football.
A self confessed Arsenal fan, Dhami had dreams of playing in the Premier League before a knee ligament injury forced him to turn his attention to Bhangra music.
Dhami commented: “I am looking forward to going into the Asian community in Birmingham to help encourage kids to fulfil their dreams and reach their full potential within the realm of football like I have within music.”
“Football still remains a passion of mine and it will be fantastic to maybe help produce a top Asian coach of the future through this.”
H-Dhami undertook the course with support from The FA’s Brendon Batson who recently supported Asian youth football in the Midlands by linking local clubs to the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Wolves and Leicester City.
The FA recently showcased their Asians in Football and Recruiting Black Coaches work with an Ethnic Minority Media Day at Soho Square.
The FA Level One coaching course is open entry whereby participants need just an interest in coaching and the motivation to improve their skills and understanding to take part.
