Why is drinking banned from FIFA international fixtures?
Because of the number of tragedies that have occurred in stadia, FIFA saw fit to take radical measures, the ban of alcoholic beverages in the stadia being one of them.

How can away supporters obtain tickets for England games at Wembley?
Tickets are usually available from the away team’s FA who should be contacted in the first instance for more information. Contact details for all national FA’s can be obtained via this link and click on the link to ‘associations’ – www.fifa.com

Why are England’s away fixtures often not on terrestrial TV?
The sale of television rights for international fixtures comes under the jurisdiction of the National Association of the home nation. As a consequence, The FA holds no control over the UK broadcast rights of England’s away internationals.

How does my son/daughter become an England Mascot?
Mascots for England games are chosen from junior members of englandfans, the Official England Supporters Club. Junior members enter a competition on the englandfans website.  Winners are chosen at random but must be between the ages of 7-11.

Why is it not possible for video footage to be used to assist the referees during play?
Any discussions on video technology or other experiments to the Laws of the Game must take place within the forum of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the body responsible for the Laws of the Game of which The FA is a member. The Laws of the Game are universal, and applicable at all levels of the game around the world.
The IFAB is the body responsible for the Laws of the Game, and is comprised of FIFA and the four British national associations (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), in recognition of their historical role in codifying the original Laws.
The Board discusses not only the existing wording of the Laws and possible amendments to them, but also experiments and new technologies. Each of the five parties has the right to put forward issues for the agenda.
The FA is willing to discuss and consider any form of video technology that would improve decision-making while not disrupting the game. The key factor is whether a message can be transmitted immediately to the referee allowing him to take an immediate decision without interrupting play.

Will The FA be able to supply me with a donation for my charity?
The FA receives hundreds of requests for signed items each week and we are unable to satisfy every request for help. Please submit a written application on charity headed paper (where possible) which includes details of your organisation and event planned, so we can keep your details on record if any items become available. Please write to:

What qualifications do stewards require?
All clubs are required by their safety certificates to train their stewards to a nationally recognised standard. The Football Association, Premier League and Football League have joined forces to launch the Football Stewarding Qualification (FSQ) - football's own national stewarding award.
Training to this standard is therefore compulsory, but clubs do not have to use the FSQ, there is also a NVQ in Spectator Control, which would be acceptable to the safety authorities. Action can be taken by The FA against the supporters of either team involved in a match.

How do I find out about employment opportunities in Coaching?
The coaching opportunities that are advertised by The FA are published through The FA Coaches' Association journal 'Insight'. If you wish to obtain further information on The FA Coaches Association, please call 0844 980 8212.

What are Football Academies?
It is mandatory for all clubs in the top flight to have an Academy. Some Football League clubs also run Academies, which bring together the best young players to give them top quality coaching, development, education and medical care. The relevant leagues administer these Academies if you would like more information please e-mail the relevant league:

Does The Football Association offer grants?
The Football Foundation has introduced a new simplified application form and fast track scheme for grants of £10,000 or under. Grants of £10,000 require less information than those of £1,000,000 and the new application process allows the Foundation to quickly assess bids and offer grants within weeks.
Our easy to use forms and guidance notes are available online at www.footballfoundation.org.uk, or by calling 0845 345 4555.
The Football Foundation is funded by the Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, and is the nation's largest sports charity with a £53m budget going straight into the very heart of football.

The FA National Game Division is ploughing over £35m a year - £20m of which is invested into The Football Foundation - supporting community football, schools and further education colleges, heralding higher standards, better pitches, changing rooms and facilities and encouraging more people to enjoy football for life.
