The FA are advertising for an Equality Manager.
The Equality and Child Protection Department of The Football Association is looking to appoint an Equality Manager to join a team to assist in the delivery of our equality objectives.
Reporting to The FA’s Head of Equality and Child Protection, this role presents a unique opportunity to develop and manage the delivery of the strategic equality objectives and targets in The FA Vision, 2008-2012.
Key responsibilities include:
- To implement The FA’s Equality policy and objectives as part of The FA’s Vision working with partners across the football family both internally and externally
- To ensure that all FA policies and procedures are legally compliant and consistent with, and reflect, The FA’s Equality policy
- To promote and communicate The FA’s work in equality both internally and externally
- To plan annual budgets for approval and to manage them effectively, producing annual actions plans and quarterly reviews of the objectives
- To line manage the Equality Co-ordinator
- To lead The FA’s work on safeguarding vulnerable adults
- To manage The FA’s Equality Impact and Risk Assessment processes
- To support The FA’s Human Resources team to develop and sustain a diverse organisation
- To co-ordinate all activities across seven equality strands - gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, age and social inclusion across football, providing guidance and best practice
- To support relevant FA Heads of Department to identify gaps through monitoring and to set targets and tactics to widen representation
- To work with all football authorities to ensure that there is co-ordination in equality work and providing a strategic lead and support on all equality matters
- To ensure that there are clear channels for reporting and monitoring any concerns about discrimination, harassment or abuse
- To adopt a proactive approach to predicting, managing and responding to discriminatory incidents
- To strategically manage the Equality Education Programme ensuring tutors are recruited, trained, deployed and supported
- To design and develop educational resources for tutors and participants; providing adapted workshops and resources for nationally targeted groups
- To lead the work in ensuring that The FA achieves national equality standards
- To work with the various advisory groups that support The FAs work in the different strands of equality
- To support all Equality and Child Protection Team Members and Projects as required.

- Proven ability and experience in building and maintaining relationships and managing conflict

Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of equality issues and experience of developing and implementing solutions
- A high level of knowledge of the law in relation to discrimination and harassment
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Experience
- Proven ability to deliver sustainable projects across a number of equality strands
- Significant experience of managing people to become champions for equality
- Evidence planning and delivering visible confidence building measures across the equality strands
- Experience in providing advice and guidance in various equality strands
- Line-management experience
- Sensitively managing challenges from external pressure groups and individuals
- Evidence of the development of educational resources.
A passion for equality and fairness; post-graduate qualification or equivalent in a social science or related discipline; experience of recognising and addressing individual and team weaknesses through continuous professional development and experience of working with and influencing government agencies and NGOs, is desirable.
