Wonderful Wembley, chosen to host the UEFA Champions League Final in 2011, has already staged five Finals of the competition that used to be known as the European Champion Clubs' Cup - or "European Cup" for short.
AC Milan edged Benfica 2-1 with Altafini's goals in the 1963 Final, watched by 45,000 fans on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. Five years later Matt Busby's Manchester United became the first English club to lift the massive trophy as a team inspired by George Best beat Benfica 4-1 after extra time.
Ajax, with Cruyff, beat Panathinakos from Greece in the 1971 Final, refereed by Jack Taylor from Wolverhampton and seen by 83,000 inside Wembley. Kenny Dalglish's 64th-minute goal for Liverpool was enough to win the 1978 Final against Club Brugge and Ronald Koeman's thumping shot following an extra-time free kick won it for Barcelona against Sampdoria in 1992. Those last two matches attracted capacity crowds to the world-famous stadium.
More recently, in 2003, AC Milan beat Juventus on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford, with Andriy Shevchenko scoring the winning penalty (pictured above).
Wembley also staged two European Cup Winners' Cup Finals - West Ham United v Munich 1860 (2-0 in 1965) and Parma v Royal Antwerp (3-1 in 1993). Lazio won the 1999 Final, the last in history, 2-1 against Real Mallorca at Villa Park.
