The FA Refresher Crowd Doctors Course

Following the publication of the Taylor Report, The Football League's Honorary Consultant Medical Advisor convened a Working party to determine the response necessary to meet the recommendations of that report. The Gibson Report has now been published, recommending that doctors engaged as' Crowd Doctors' at sports events should, ideally, possess the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care, but in the meantime there should be organised one day courses to prepare doctors for their role as 'Crowd Doctors' at sporting events.

The Football Association's Medical Education Department, in conjunction with The British Association for Immediate Medical Care and The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh Faculty for Pre-Hospital Care has organised Crowd Doctor courses. In order to minimise the time spent by doctors away from their medical practice or their sporting commitments, the courses have been arranged on Sundays.

There are 2 Crowd Doctor Course types:-

- A new updated 2 day Immediate Medical Care Course for Crowd Doctors (for those applying 2002 onwards)

- For existing Crowd Doctors (pre-2002), a one day Crowd Doctor Refresher and Skills Update Course

A "Refresher and Skills Update Course" for 'Crowd Doctors' underwent Crowd Doctor training pre-2002.
