FAMOA goes to Preston
By Ian Blanchard. Wednesday, 14 July 2004.
This day provided a "stepping stone" for referees who want to develop their skills and qualities, making them better referees.
The audience, of which there were a number of new, fresh-faced referees, enthused at the exuberance of Alan Wilkie taking about the Skills of Refereeing.
Janie Frampton gave many important and powerful messages on the subject of confrontation, and Roger Vaughan provided lots of opportunities to clarify and seek confirmation on the important subject of offside.
Unfortunately John Baker was on international duties, however Ian Blanchard shared his thoughts on the qualities needed to be a better referee.
Judging by the comments, people left enthused, well informed and with lots of food for thought. It would be nice to think that The FA on this occasion had helped a future FIFA referee.
Undoubtedly this was another successful Development Day.
