At an FA Appeal Board hearing on Wednesday, appeals by Boston United and Halifax Town against decisions of the Football Conference were dismissed.
Issues surrounding Nuneaton Borough following the club's liquidation have also been addressed by The FA this week.
An FA Appeal Board held in London dismissed appeals by Boston United and Halifax Town against their expulsion from the Football Conference.
In the case of Halifax, the club failed to demonstrate that the Conference had misinterpreted or failed to comply with the rules and regulations relevant to its decision or that the Conference had come to a decision to which no reasonable body could have come. It has been agreed that a re-formed club will be allocated a place in the Northern Premier League Division One North (Step 4) for season 2008-09 subject to certain conditions being met.
The Appeal Board also dismissed Boston's appeal finding that the Conference had not misinterpreted or failed to comply with the rules and regulations relevant to its decision; or come to a decision to which no reasonable body could have come; or imposed a penalty, award, order or any other sanction that was excessive. Boston will be allocated a place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division (Step 3) for season 2008-09 subject to certain conditions being met and to the satisfaction of the NPL. Due to this action, Vauxhall Motors FC will be reprieved from relegation to Step 3 and retain their place in Conference North.
At a meeting of the Leagues Committee held on Monday, it was agreed that a re-formed Nuneaton club would be allocated to the Southern League Division One Midland Division (Step 4) of the National League System for season 2008-09. This followed the removal of Nuneaton Borough FC from the Football Conference (Step 2) following the liquidation of the limited company. It was further agreed that the re-formed club should have a new name to show a clear distinction from what had occurred in the past. The club accepted this and subsequently notified the Association that they would be using the name Nuneaton Town FC.
The removal of Nuneaton Borough from the Football Conference has meant that Dorchester Town will be reprieved from relegation to Step 3 and that Bedford Town will be reprieved from relegation to Step 4.
