The FA has agreed a new four-year deal with the BBC to broadcast radio coverage of The FA Cup and England international matches.

The deal starts from the opening of the 2008-2009 football season with The FA Community Shield between Manchester United and Portsmouth at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 10 August.

Radio 5 Live's England coverage will resume with the friendly against the Czech Republic on 20 August.

FA Chief Executive Brian Barwick said: "We're delighted to be continuing our relationship with the BBC. Radio 5 Live will continue to provide an excellent home for England and The FA Cup on our radios.

"Following on from the record television deals we secured with domestic and overseas broadcasters, this deal provides The FA with more income to invest back into football at all levels."

BBC Radio 5 Live and its sister digital station 5 Live Sports Extra will broadcast England's home international games and away friendlies. The deal also confirms 5 Live will have commentary on FA Cup matches for the next four seasons.

Director of BBC Sport Roger Mosey said: "Securing The FA Cup and international matches completes Radio 5 Live's unrivalled portfolio of football commentary rights including the Premier League. The BBC believes it's important we offer free-to-air live coverage of key sporting events."
