The FA is seeking potential candidates to be nominated for the 2009 Queen’s Birthday Honours list in recognition of their services to football.

The Honours system provides a great opportunity to recognise those people who are really making a difference to football, not just those who participate but those involved behind the scenes, be it on the coaching, managing, refereeing or administration side.

It is a great way to recognise outstanding merit and service to the nation.

Honours recognise the achievements of ordinary people who have made a genuine difference in their field of work or community.

The FA is particularly keen to see an increase in the number of people recognised from the lower levels of football, including volunteers and those involved at the grassroots of the game. Nominations are particularly welcome from groups that tend to be under-represented, such as women and ethnic minorities.

The closing date for completed nomination forms to be received by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport is Friday 19 September.

So if you know someone who has really gone that extra mile and who you would like to see recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, please email Jennie.Hambleton@TheFA.com for an application form.
