FA Chairman Geoff Thompson said: "The IFC plays a valuable role in the governance of football and I congratulate them on their five years of hard work. Their scrutiny of the game has led to many improvements during that time.

"We will fully digest the report and respond to its recommendations in full in due course but we are particularly pleased with the praise given to many areas of The FA’s work such as equality, child protection, football development and the new agent regulations.

"It's reassuring to see that many of the areas that are the focus of the 2006 Report's recommendations are those that are at the heart of The FA's thinking.

"There has been a huge commitment from the organisation in areas such as child protection, support for the network of County FA's and work towards the implementation of the structural review of The FA."
