This morning, The FA Chairman Geoff Thompson and the Minister for Sport, Richard Caborn, met at The FA's headquarters in London.
The meeting provided an opportunity for The Chairman to update the Minister on the independent review process and the appointment of a new Chief Executive.
The Chairman explained to the Minister that The FA Board will decide on November 25th who will Chair the independent review and that the review process will begin in early January. The Minister was satisfied with progress and asked to be kept informed.
The Minister was also briefed on preparations for England to host the 2005 UEFA European Women's Championship, which will take place next June in the North West.
Mr. Caborn expressed his excitement about the tournament, which will give a further boost to the development of women's and girls' football in this country. Already the most popular female sport in England, participation rates among women and girls football grew an incredible 53% last season.
