FA reports racism
Thursday, 18 November 2004.
The FA can confirm that it has sent formal letters of complaint to FIFA, UEFA and The Spanish Football Federation, following the racist abuse suffered by England players in Wednesday night's game against Spain in Madrid.
While the game was played under the jurisdiction of FIFA, UEFA are responsible for leading the campaign against racism in European football.
The FA's Head of Media, Adrian Bevington, said: "We have made a full report on this to FIFA and to UEFA and have sent a letter of complaint to the Spanish Federation.
"We have asked those bodies to join us in condemning the racist abuse directed at some of the England players.
"Football as a whole should stand up and express its disgust at what has gone on here. Quite frankly, it's a disgrace."
