Chelsea's Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
No FA race investigation
Friday, 27 September 2002.
In response to certain newspaper reports today, The FA can confirm that it has received no reports regarding alleged racial abuse by Newcastle United fans towards Chelsea's Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at the Chelsea - Newcastle match on Saturday 14th September. There is therefore no ongoing FA investigation into these allegations...
However, The FA would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to tackling racism in all its forms and to treating any reports of racist behaviour at football matches with the utmost importance.
Spokesman Adrian Bevington said: "We have a long-standing commitment to driving racism out of football. It has no place in our sport, and The FA has been working for several years with Kick Racism Out of Football, clubs and other organisations to stamp it out."
