Trevor Brooking at the community fund-raising event at St Julian's School.

Trevor Brooking was guest of honour at a community fund-raising event at St Julian's School in the district of Carcavelos, close to the team's hotel on the outskirts of Lisbon.
Organised by the British Community Council and the Lisbon Casuals Sports Club, the day featured 20 teams of 10 competing in 7 different sports ranging from football to lacrosse to Scottish country dancing!
The main purpose of the event was to raise funds for the Co-operativa Sao Pedro - Barcarena, a centre for children and youngsters with severe mental handicaps. The money raised will go towards the purchase of much-needed physiotherapy equipment.
"It was a fantastic event, " said Brooking, who was accompanied by fellow colleagues from The FA.
" Everyone was clearly enjoying themselves in what seemed to me to be a determined effort to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause. We were delighted to be invited to take part and to support the day".
Outside of the main preparations for England's participation in Euro 2004, the visit to St Julian's School was just one that The FA has supported since the beginning of their stay in Portugal.
It has also supported various fans events and community initiatives, including a visit to one of Lisbon's less privileged districts, Famoes, while England midfielder Nicky Butt accompanied Brooking and FA Executive Director David Davies on a visit to a children's cancer hospital in Coimbre ahead of England's game against Switzerland.
"We have been quite keen to make the most of our stay in Portugal", explained The FA's Head of International Relations, Jane Bateman.
"We have been in regular contact with the British Embassy and British Council for some time now and have taken their advice on visits we could make which would make a difference.
"We have also supported a number of fan-led initiatives to promote good relations between English and Portuguese fans".
