A recent pupil of The FA's highly rated UEFA Pro Licence course at Warwick University has been rewarded with a long term managerial contract at Championship side Watford.
Adrian Boothroyd has been rewarded for his fine work at Vicarage Road with a five year extension to his current deal, taking him up to June 2010.
Boothroyd took part in The FA Learning course in the summer and joined the likes of Sam Allardyce, Steve McClaren and Bryan Robson in achieving their UEFA Pro Licence.
The course covers all aspects of coaching and management such as: fitness and conditioning, dealing with the media, mental preparation and the business side of the game.
The UEFA Pro Licence is now the mandatory qualification in all the major footballing countries and which all Premiership managers must hold by 2010.
"Adrian has proved himself to be someone who combines exceptional man management skills with the very best in pure football coaching qualities," commented Watford chairman Graham Simpson.
"In a short space of time, he has taken this club by the scruff of the neck and given us new purpose, vigour and far greater self belief. As a result, Adrian has become highly respected by everyone associated with Watford and the wider footballing public - particularly our fans."
In addition, key members of Adrian's football management team have also been awarded improved deals.
"I am absolutely delighted to have agreed the new deal and am now be able to plan for the long-term development of the club," said Boothroyd. "In a very short space of time, Watford has come to mean an awful lot to me.
"Winning a place in the Premier League is quite clearly the over-riding priority for me - and I am committed to delivering this, sooner rather than later! So, too, is building sustainable Academy and youth team infrastructures that support the club beyond 2010."
