Organised by Left Footers FC, the International Gay and Lesbian World Championships are being held in London’s Regents Park with the Women’s Final set to take place at Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium on 29 August.

The World Championships are an annual event with last year’s tournament taking place in Argentina and London 2008 organiser, Mikey Collins, commented: “We want to reflect the growth of women's football in Europe and open up the competition to all women footballers, regardless of sexuality.

“Hopefully we can set a record for the highest number of women's teams taking part in the history of the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association's World Championships.”

The tournament runs from 24-30 August and will feature two sides from Africa plus clubs from around the world.

A full social programme for everyone taking part has been organised for the week and your club can warm up for the new season by signing up today at www.londonwc2008.co.uk.

Individual players can also sign up for the tournament and will be assigned teams on arrival at Regents Park.
