Newcastle defender Celestine Babayaro was sent off against Aston Villa.
Babayaro claim rejected
Thursday, 16 February 2006.
At a Disciplinary Commission hearing today, Newcastle United defender Celestine Babayaro had a claim for wrongful dismissal rejected.
Babayaro was sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity at Aston Villa on 11 February.
He will now serve a two-match suspension with immediate effect.
One match of the suspension is for the sending-off itself. The extra match is due to the fact that Babayaro admitted a charge of violent conduct in November last year, which counts as a previous sending-off under the disciplinary totting-up process.
