Both players were sent off for violent conduct, and Bowyer received a four-match suspension for the dismissal as it was his second of the season.

Bowyer was also subsequently charged by The FA for violent conduct. He admitted the charge, and at a Disciplinary Commission hearing on 22 April, received an additional three-match suspension and a £30,000 fine.

He therefore served a total suspension of seven matches for the incident.

Note: Section A, paragraph 7(i) of The FA's Disciplinary Procedures allows a charge to be brought under Rule E3 for an incident where a player was dismissed and is subject to an automatic suspension.
