The FA has received a response from Scholes after the United player was charged with violent behaviour towards an opponent (breach of FA Rule E2).

The charge followed an incident involving Middlesbrough's Doriva during the match at Old Trafford on 11 February 2004.

The midfielder has requested a personal hearing, the date of which will be confirmed in due course.
