The FA has charged Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce with failing to act in the best interests of the game and bringing the game into disrepute (breach of FA Rule E1).

The charge relates to his comments about referee Mike Riley following the Carling Cup final against Middlesbrough on 29th February 2004.

He has 14 days to respond.
