Patrick Vieira has 5 bookings but does not face suspension...
We can confirm that, despite Patrick Vieira being cautioned against Southampton on Saturday, he will not be facing a suspension.
Saturday's caution at the St Mary's Stadium was the player's fifth of the season but his first of 2002/03 campaign was collected in The FA Community Shield, which is not classified as a First Team Competitive Fixture
In a letter to all FA Premier League Clubs at the beginning of this season, FA Disciplinary Manager, Alan Wilkes, stipulated that disciplinary procedures for season 2002/03 would see separate disciplinary records for field misconduct in First Team Competitive Matches to those in Non-First Team Matches.
The player therefore has only four cautions in First Team Competitive Matches this season.
*First Team Competitive Matches for FA Premier Leagues Clubs comprise: FA Premier League, Football League Cup and FA Cup Matches.
Further to media reports regarding an alleged incident involving Arsenal defender Ashley Cole at St Mary's on Saturday, we can confirm that The FA will assess the referee's match report before making any further comment.
We will keep you updated
* We can confirm that, following his sending off on Saturday, Sol Campbell will serve a one-match suspension, commencing December 7.
