Grant and McAnuff fined

Avram Grant and Jobi McAnuff both fined for improper conduct.

At a Regulatory Commission hearing today Portsmouth manager Avram Grant was warned as to his future conduct and fined £1,000 with a further £4,000 fine suspended until the end of the 2010/11 season.

Grant admitted a charge of improper conduct relating to his behaviour towards referee Kevin Friend at the conclusion of the first half of Portsmouth’s match against Sunderland at Fratton Park on 9 February. The Commission took into account his admission of the charge and previous good disciplinary record. The suspended fine will be activated in the event of a similar breach of FA rules.

The Commission also heard a charge of improper conduct brought against Reading FC’s Jobi McAnuff relating to his conduct after being sent off during Reading’s match against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday 24 February.

McAnuff denied the charge but the Commission found it proved. He was fined £4,000 and warned as to his future conduct with the Commission having taken into account his previous exemplary disciplinary record. He remains subject to an automatic three match suspension for the dismissal.
