Jill Scott believes Team GB's performances in the Olympic Games will have a lasting legacy for women's football.

Hope Powell's side went out at the last-eight stage after a 2-0 defeat to Canada in Coventry. But Scott insists that her team-mates have much to be proud of despite their early exit.

“We are proud as we had a good campaign,” said Scott. “We beat Brazil, we put women's football out there and hopefully more people will come to support us now.”

But Scott admitted she was devastated by the defeat.

“We are gutted, we have been on the best journey of our lives and are so gutted,” she said. “We didn't want it to end and we are proud of what we have done, so thank-you to all the supporters who turned out.

“Conceding two early goals put us on the back foot in the first-half but we gave it our all – we just had to much to do and are gutted now.”
