England U19s Head Coach and Coach Educator Noel Blake ready for SGP return

Noel Blake cannot wait to take his England U19 squad back to St. George’s Park.

Blake had a small taste of the new national football centre when he took his players there ahead of a clash with Germany last month.

And he admits the facilities on offer there can only be beneficial to his squad and staff.

U19s Head Coach Blake said: “It’s a terrific facility for all of our national teams.

“We had the chance of using the facilities at St. George’s Park very shortly before we went to Germany and it was a superb place to work.

“It was a little taste of it for the lads and they were all very impressed, so hopefully they will be able to make use of it in the years to come if their international careers continue to progress.”

Following that meet-up in early September, Blake’s side travelled to Estonia later that month for the First Qualifying Round of Euro 2013.

He steered the Young Lions to the next stage of that competition by beating Estonia, Faroe Islands and Ukraine to top spot in Tallinn.

And the former Birmingham City and Stoke defender will be back in Burton with his players in November ahead of their game with Finland.

He added: “We will be able to have a proper look around with the lads when we are based there later this year.

“There will be a few days of training and work done with the squad ahead of the Finland game so everyone is looking forward to that now.

“We had a very good set of results out in Estonia, with a number of new players giving me a nice selection problem for the next game, which we’re all looking forward to.”

As one of The FA’s Coach Educators, Blake is also pleased that training courses for both budding and experienced coaches can be centralised at St. George’s Park.

He said: “To have everything you need, from pitches to learning facilities, in one location like this is a terrific help.

“It can only be a fantastic aid and with the variety of courses that we do now coming from a central hub like this, it all makes for a great learning environment for everyone involved.”
