Arsenal v Liverpool
The FA WSL
7pm, Tuesday 7 May 2013
Liverpool boss Matt Beard will use his experience of managing at the Emirates Stadium as his side visit Arsenal looking to upset the odds in the capital on Tuesday evening.
Beard was in charge of the Chelsea side that lost 3-1 there last April in front of an FA WSL record attendance of 5,052.
And Liverpool, Beard's new employers, visit the stadium on Tuesday as they look to maintain their fine start to the season.
But Beard is aware that Arsenal will be the favourites, particularly after they beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in The FA Women's Cup Semi-Final last month.
Yet he insists his side will not be overawed by the arena and will use the pristine playing surface to their advantage.
He said: “The Emirates pitch is top drawer and that's important because us and Arsenal want to play football. Going there is an exciting occasion for any footballer.
"But when I went there last season with Chelsea I think some of my players were overawed by it and we got beat.
"So, with that in mind, it's probably a bonus that we had the game at Anfield recently. Where we usually play, the Halton Stadium isn't bad either.
“Overall, we're pleased with how things are slowly but surely progressing.”
And Beard is convinced his side have learnt from that defeat to Arsenal at Anfield.
He added: “The League campaign is very important to us and we want to finish as high up the table as we can.
“There are no easy games in this League as some of the results have proved already and we're going to the Emirates to win the game.
“I think we learned a lot from our FA Cup game with Arsenal at Anfield, probably more in defeat than we would have if we won.”
