Dennis Bergkamp will be honoured by Arsenal with a statue outside the Emirates Stadium, where he will join the bronze busts of fellow club legends Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry.
The Dutchman was a huge success in his playing days with the Gunners, winning The FA Cup and the Premier League three times during his 11 seasons in England.
And Bergkamp still has a great affinity with the north London club, telling FATV earlier this year that the proudest moments of his glittering career came with the Gunners.
He revealed: “It fulfilled everything that I expected of playing there and was as good as I expected it to be, maybe even better.
“Winning trophies and having a fantastic time made me stay every year and continue for 11 years in England and it was a good time.
“My proudest moment was my testimonial and that’s because it was a collection of all those 11 years, all the bad times but especially the good times.
“It was one big celebration with the fans there and the fans from Ajax, with all the players that I played with who played a role in my career.
“That was a fantastic moment to celebrate my 11 years in England.”
A date has yet to be confirmed for the unveiling of the latest statue at the Emirates, but Bergkamp is hoping to be there should his commitments as assistant coach to Frank de Boer at Ajax allow.
And he hasn’t ruled out a future return to the club in a coaching capacity.
He admitted: “I would, yes. We have started something good now at Ajax and I know a little bit in my role, what I like and what I don’t like.
“So if I could fulfil a similar role abroad, especially at Arsenal, that would be one of the things that I would like to achieve in the future.
“But not in the near future because we have just started here.”
