Nathaniel Chalobah became the first ever England Men's Youth Player of the Year on Sunday night and couldn't hide his pride.
The 18-year-old represented both England U19s and Under-21s in 2012, helping Noel Blake's side to the Euro semi-final whilst still a year younger than many of his team-mates.
And when he was presented with the award by Stephanie Moore MBE at St. George's Park, Chalobah gave his first reaction to TheFA.com.
He said: "It's phenomenal to get nominated in the first place.
"I was just excited and ecstatic in the end to receive the award and it's an honour with the Senior squad and staff here."
After becoming a European champion with England U17s in 2010 and then reaching a Euro semi-final and World Cup quarter final with the same age group in 2011, it would take a lot to top those years for someone so young.
But Chalobah's progression has continued apace and this award, decided by Club England coaches, is recognition of that.
He added: "I just really want to progress and keep doing well and just concentrate on my football.
"And that's what I did in 2012 and it looks as though it's paying off at the moment, so I just want to keep going."
Chelsea midfielder Chalobah is currently enjoying a productive loan spell with Watford, under the guidance of former Stamford Bridge favourite Gianfranco Zola.
And after captaining the Blues to FA Youth Cup victory last season, he is feeling the benefit of regular first-team football with the Hornets.
"It was a good move for me to go out on loan and play regularly in the Championship," he admits.
"And Watford is the right place for me to do it. The manager is very influential in my career at the moment and I really just couldn't ask for more."
