Former England Blind and Paralympic GB striker Dave Clarke was last week confirmed as the very first FA150 Ambassador.
2013 will mark The FA’s 150th anniversary and a number of high-profile matches and events have been planned to mark the landmark year.
England will host Brazil, Scotland and Republic of Ireland at Wembley, while a National Football Day will be held in August and a Gala Dinner will be staged in the Grand Connaught Rooms on 26 October 2013 – the day of the 150th anniversary.
To go alongside these ents, a list of FA150 Ambassadors will be unveiled and the first of these is Clarke, scorer of 128 goals in 144 games for England and Paralympic GB.
He said of his new role: “It’s a great privilege.
“Football has been a huge part of my life and it’s great to have the opportunity to represent The FA in this way, to be part of that history.
“I get the sense that the [150th anniversary] is going to be used to help map out the future and to be a part of that whole process is a great privilege.
“What The FA has meant to me over time has changed and certainly going into its 150th year it’s in the best place it can be with regards to disability football particularly.”
