England will be up against highly-rated teams from Portugal, USA and Turkey in an FA U17 International Tournament.

The matches will provide opportunities for football fans in Brentford, Aldershot and Swindon to see many of the country’s most talented young players in action.

England Under-17s Coach John Peacock said: "This tournament will be our first chance to get these young players together as we set out later in the season to qualify for next May’s European Under-17s Championships in Belgium.

"There are some very talented young players who we hope can develop into England internationals in the future. The experience of playing youth international football is an important part of their development, especially in a tournament situation.

"The three teams we are playing are good sides with excellent records at this level in recent seasons. They each have different styles and will provide different challenges that these young players won’t have experienced before.

"We have a good record at Under-17s level over the last few years and this tournament is an important part of our plans as we look ahead to competing to qualify for the European Finals."

England’s first match of the International Tournament will see them take on Turkey at Brentford FC’s Griffin Park on Wednesday 30 August before facing USA at the home of Aldershot Town FC, the Recreation Ground, on Friday 1 September. England’s final match will be against Portugal at the Swindon Town FC’s County Ground on Sunday 3 September. Non-England matches are being held at Yeading FC and Staines FC.
