Everton picked up all three points from a fiercely contested encounter with Millwall Lionesses.

The home side took a two-goal lead into the interval thanks to efforts from Michelle Hinnigan and Gwenn Harries.

Lauren Phillips pulled a goal back with 17 minutes remaining for the Lionesses but the London side were unable to grab the equaliser they so badly craved.

League leaders Sunderland left it late before scoring twice in the last five minutes to see off Birmingham 2-0.

Arsenal ladies were in sensational form as they smashed eight past Bristol Academy.

Kim Little grabbed two, while Jane Ludlow, Helen Lander, Gemma Davison, Katie Chapman, Jennifer Beattie and Danielle Carter were also on the scoresheet.

In the day's other two league fixtures, Doncaster cruised to a 5-1 win at Blackburn, while Watford were held to a goalless draw at home by Nottingham Forest.
