Rovers recruitment drive

Blackburn Rovers Ladies are celebrating once again after picking up their fourth piece of silverware this season.

At the club’s annual awards evening, held at Ewood Park, Adam Lakeland’s side were presented with the Special Club Award by manager Mark Hughes.

The special honour caps an incredible season for the Ladies side, who retained their Lancashire Cup crown for the fourth year running, as well becoming the first team in women’s football history to win back-to-back Team of the Round awards en route to the semi-finals of the FA Women’s Cup.

If you'd like to be part of the team's efforts next season, the club are inviting players to come along to their elite trials.

Open trials for girls aged 16-and-over (as of August 31st) will be held from 10am-12pm at St Bede’s High School, Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn on Saturday 2 June and Sunday 10 June. Players must register 15 minutes before the sessions commence, whilst grass and astroturf footwear is also required.

Places for both the first team and the reserves are up for grabs, in what looks set to be one of the most exciting seasons in the club’s history.

After gaining promotion to the Women’s National Division in 2006, Adam Lakeland’s side ended their first ever season of top-flight football, which included an historic run to the semi-final stage of the FA Cup, with a top-half league finish.

Contact Gemma Donnelly on 01254 296256 or at GDonnelly@rover-mail.co.uk  for directions to the school and to confirm your attendance on either or both dates.
