Former Scotland U19 coach Shelley Kerr appointed new manager of reigning FA WSL champions
Shelley Kerr has been appointed manager of reigning FA WSL champions Arsenal.
The former Scotland Women’s U19 head coach replaces Laura Harvey, who left the Gunners for American side Seattle Reign.
Kerr led Scotland to the UEFA European Women’s U19 Championship Finals in 2010 and has helped develop current Arsenal duo Kim Little and Jenifer Beattie.
The 43-year-old Pro Licence holder earned 59 caps for the Scots during her playing career and she was part of the coaching team that helped her country reach the Euro 2009 play-offs.
Kerr told arsenal.com: “I’m extremely excited to be taking up the position of Arsenal Ladies manager.
“Arsenal have been at the forefront of the women’s game for as long as I can remember and it’s a real honour to join the setup.
“I’m inheriting a great group of players and I look forward to working with them all to bring further success to the club in the seasons ahead."
