Sixteen teams entered the annual five-a-side competition this year, which is sponsored by Fitness Unlimited and held at Concord Sports Centre.

The tournament, in its third year, was held at Concord Sports Centre and attracted teams from all over the region. The prize at stake was not only the title of the competition but the winning team also receives 10 tickets to an England home match.

The weather was very wet and cold, but that didn’t damper the spirits of both finalists. The final was a toughly fought match between two very physical and competitive teams. Mad Dogs beat West Ville from Mexborough 2-0 in the final which saw the ultimate winners reduced to four men late in the second half.

James Hope-Gill, Chief Executive for the County FA said "Its been a great day for our annual five-a-side competition. Teams from across the region have entered. Each and every one of the players has played hard and fair.

"The final was a good competitive match and our congratulations go to Mad Dogs for winning the tournament. We are delighted that this event has now firmly established itself among the region's summer tournaments for clubs."

The Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA have already committed to staging the event for the next two years at Concord Sports Centre.
