Wednesday, 26 January 2005.
Football in the Ross-On-Wye area has received a boost from the FA with the award of the FA Charter Standard Club distinction to Ross Rockets Girls FC.
Paul Carpenter the Herefordshire FA's Football Development Officer said ‘‘this is fantastic news for Ross Rockets - the first all girls club in Herefordshire to achieve the FA Charter Standard Club award''.
''As the flagship of the FA's Football Development programme, the Charter Standard Club award is bestowed upon clubs that set and maintain standards of coaching, administration and child protection in line with FA recommendations’’.
‘’As a benchmark for quality, it will improve the playing and volunteering experience for all''.
''I have been very impressed with the dedication and commitment shown by Kyla DaCunha, Karen Blackwood, Jackie Baynham and many other volunteers who give up their time week in week out to provide football for girls at Ross Rockets.''
''With the award of the FA Charter Standard, the club is demonstrating that it is a safe, fun and progressive environment for an ever increasing number of young footballers.''
Ross Rockets field two teams in the growing Herefordshire Girls Football league at Under 10 and Under 12 age groups. The Girls league is striving to become the first FA Charter Standard League in Herefordshire with only three member clubs still to achieve the award.
