The Charter Standard festival at Wollaston FC.
Thursday, 19 August 2004.
Supporting adult football has become increasingly prominent at the Northamptonshire FA. We recognise the national decline in the 11 a side game and fully support the national initiatives to sustain participation, raise standards and support clubs wherever possible.
Wollaston Victoria are one of the county’s FA Charter Standard Club’s and recently agreed to host a promotional event for other clubs who could potentially achieve the award.
The event , a round-robin pre-season competition was held at Wollaston’s ground, a prime site to demonstrate how clubs can develop and also improve their facilities. Wollaston themselves have benefitted from the Football Foundation by receiving funding for new changing facilities.
The pre-season tournament was geared around the promotion of Charter Standard for Adult Clubs. During the afternoon a short presentation was made to club officials on the award, development and funding opportunities.
Wilby FC came out worthy winners of the competition but all clubs had the opportunity to have a pre-season run out and importantly came away with information on how to develop their clubs.
The Northamptonshire FA will further support adult clubs in the County over the next month by hosting a Certificate in Coaching Adult Footballers.
