The FA Charter Standard program has the aim of setting standards of coaching, administration, development and child protection for grassroots football clubs.

Andy Brown, Durham FA Football Development Officer said: "These clubs are committed to raising the standards of grassroots football in England to encourage more people to play, to develop their skills, and to enjoy the game in the right environment. Clubs who become Charter Standard are taking part in a genuine grassroots revolution."

About the value of achieving The FA Charter Standard Award Chairman of Durham FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year, Alan Brown said "The Award and recognition is very important locally as it proves to parents that we are progressing football in the correct manner and shows the community that we are a club who can be trusted."
