The training of teachers is fundamental to successful football development in schools.The FA aims to provide teachers with the opportunity to attend FA Coach Education courses. The FA will work closely with national partners to provide Football Association Coach Education and officiating courses to educationalists through the Coaching for Teachers initiative.

The FA offers a range of courses for teachers to gain additional qualifications. These include:
- FA Mini-Soccer Match Day Skills
This is for any teacher(or AOTT) involved with refereeing mini-soccer
- FA Teaching Certificate Key Stage 2
For teachers and trainee teachers of Key Stage 2 children. Part A of the course is The FA Top Sport Football Course
- FA Teaching Certificate Key Stage 3 & 4
For secondary school specialists and non-specialist PE teachers, trainee teachers and AOTT's.
- FA Junior Football Organisers Course
The course familiarises teachers with the content of the course to allow them to deliver courses to their students.
- 1st for Sport Level 1 Certificate in coaching football
This covers practical games that deliver key skills and techniques and also includes Soccer Parent, Player and Coach Development, Football Administration and Laws of the Game, FA Emergency Aid, Child Protection and Good Practice.
- Adults other than Teachers
AOTTS are those people who do not hold a recognised teaching qualification but operate in schools with the permission of the Head Teacher. As these people often deliver football, The FA will provide coaching and resource pack on best practice. See the brochure in the Resource Centre.
