What is the scheme about?

The object of the scheme is to offer the services of an FA qualified coach for a total of 10 sessions to help develop a women's football squad at the college.

The scheme will offer English colleges the opportunity to apply for a maxiumum grant of £300 to pay the identified coach.

A similar scheme has been used very successfully for many years to develop women's clubs witin universities. In the 1998/99 season there were only 16 women's football teams participating in university football. Last season 127 teams entered the BUSA Women's Football Championships.

How do I take advantage of the scheme?

Colleges must meet the following criteria to be considered for this Grant Aid:

1. Only English colleges affiliated to British College Sport can apply

2. All colleges must be affiliated to their County FA

3. The college must demonstrate a commitment to develop an 11-a-side women's football team

4. The Grant Aid must only be used for the direct payment of coaching fees

5. All coaches must be qualified to the minimum of the FA coaching certificate and be a member of FACA

6. All coaches must have attended The FA 'Children - Ensuring Safety in Football' course.

7. The college is responsible for providing suitable and adequate facilities for the training sessions to take place at a time suitable for all concerned

8. The college is responsible for finding a suitable coach but assistance will be available from The FA Regional Development manager.

If you meet all of the above criteria you should then follow these steps.

STEP ONE
Ensure the availability of a suitable venue for coaching purposes and be clear that sufficient enthusiasm exists within the college to benefit from and sustain interest in the venture.

STEP TWO
Identify a qualified coach and the coaching periods required, numbers to be involved and the facilities and equipment available. Any costs associated with the facility hire will be the responsibility of the college and not The FA.

STEP THREE
Complete the Application form which is available upon contacting The FA
